Between The Great Ridge and Port Elgin — What began as a friendly little hunt for treasure along a peaceful stretch of beach has turned into a polite but rather unnerving tale of supernatural happenings, mixed intentions, and surprising discoveries, eh? Four adventurers happened upon a shipwreck that had washed ashore, setting off a chain of events that could change the fate of Kenver—and, sorry to say, maybe even the whole region beyond.
The Gathering at the Shipwreck
Drawn by the promise of some honest-to-goodness loot, four adventurers gathered amidst the wreckage of the poor old ship. Among them, Captain Mad Matt—real nice guy, honestly—introduced himself and explained he was looking to start fresh with a new vessel and crew. He mentioned, a little sadly, that he’d lost his old crew somewhere out there, and everyone offered their condolences, of course. Without too much fuss, he recruited the others: the calm and collected monk Selah as First Fighter, the strong and dependable fighter Sonia as Second Fighter, and the practical halfling druid Wilma Waterfoot as a sort of “whatever’s-needed” member of the team, y’know?
Feeling a bit bad about the state of the wreck—what a shame, really—they salvaged what they could: four barrels. Three contained mackerel and gunpowder (not the safest combo, but what can you do?), while the fourth held this odd pinkish-blue liquid that smelled fruity and a little acidic. Captain Mad Matt, being brave but maybe not too cautious, gave it a taste—pineapple-flavoured, but way too tangy to drink. When it hit the water, it just vanished! So they decided, pretty reasonably, to call it “the enemy of the sea,” sorry if that sounds dramatic.
Perilous Exploration Inside the Shipwreck
When they ventured inside, Wilma was suddenly knocked clear out by a flying fishbowl—ouch, sorry about that—releasing an angry Piranhax into the ocean. The group worked together real well (great teamwork, honestly) and defeated the critter before discovering that the ship’s hold could’ve stored around 120 barrels. Not bad, eh?
In the captain’s quarters, they met the late ship’s captain—blue-skinned, grumpy-looking fellow named Liasu—who declared he wouldn’t let anyone take his ship, not without a fight.
A Fight to the Death
Captain Liasu called in two other blue sailors, and, well, things got a bit rough. Mad Matt and Sonia took on Liasu, while Selah, sorry to say, got stuck fighting both sailors alone. Outside, Wilma started cooking up that Piranhax (no point wasting good fish, eh?). Hearing the scuffle, she dipped a Piranhax tooth in the strange liquid and tossed it inside to help. It missed—sorry about that—but Selah picked it up and used it like a pro.
Mad Matt tried to talk things out—he’s a good listener, really—but Liasu was too far gone, kind of zombie-like. Finally, Sonia’s greatsword landed a solid hit, and Mad Matt’s trusty gun delivered the finishing blow. Sorry, but that was the only way to end it, eh?
Spoils of Battle and Clues to the Future
After the fight, the group looked around and found a few interesting bits and bobs:
- Mad Matt found two books: a cookbook (which he kindly gave to Wilma) and a deep blue tome written in some unreadable language—probably important, though.
- Sonia came across a strange gadget made of glass, rubber, and pipe—sort of like a snorkelling set for breathing near the surface. Pretty neat, eh?
- Selah discovered two notes: one ordered Liasu to “deliver the cargo to Manamea without fail,” while the other, written by Liasu himself, simply said “Port Elgin, The Day of the Full Moon.”
With plenty of apologies, polite handshakes all around, and a shared sense of maple-fuelled determination, the group set off toward Port Elgin—ready to uncover the mystery behind the strange cargo and, sorry, maybe save the day while they’re at it, eh?
