Exploring the Golden Plane
The group began their exploration with great caution, as they didn't want to cause any trouble, eh. Deva even tested the golden ground by dropping a hairpin - terribly sorry to disturb the floor - but the pin rested there without a peep. They moved toward a little gazebo-like structure filled with fancy furniture, though it looked like nobody had sat there for ages, eh? Signs of life were quite sparse, limited to just a few birds fluttering in the golden skies. Beyond the gazebo, the group discovered an octagonal structure topped with spires. Tiyana sensed some magic leading inside, so they decided to investigate, if that's alright with everyone. Inside, they found a massive spiral staircase descending deep into the ground. Smaller staircases branched off into the spires, which Mabel identified as ancient observatories, eh. Opting for the main staircase, the adventurers descended into the stony depths.

Caves of Mystery
At the bottom of the stairs, the party entered a spacious cave, where a fallen golden gate marked an old mining camp that had been left behind - sorry about the mess, eh. A second gate remained intact, and after a bit of a struggle, Tiyana and Ace managed to unlock it. However, beyond this gate lay an even larger and much more fortified golden door, securely locked from the other side, which was a bit of a bother. Marina and Selah checked the cave’s walls, finding a damaged side gate. Marina, with all due respect to the wall, opened a person-sized hole, and the party ventured through. Navigating a hidden passage, Selah led the group around that big fortified door, emerging into a grand chamber. There were sand-like waterfalls framing the room, and golden chandeliers glowed above, eh? At the center of the chamber stood a pedestal, crowned by a lovely pearlescent, glowing sphere and five staircases leading up to it.

Meeting Auralis
The pedestal held an idol - a tiny 30cm tall golden figure clutching a heart, eh. Tiyana could feel magic flowing into the idol, including that energy from the mask spirits the party had been chasing - sorry about all that drama. Mabel approached first, while Selah climbed onto a chandelier to get a good look from above. Selah tried to clean the idol with some holy water, but there was no effect at all, eh? With a very cautious hand, Tiyana used Mage Hand to move the idol from its perch. As soon as the idol touched the floor, a radiant trail of gold and pink light popped out, forming into a human shape. The light solidified, and Auralis, a magnificent golden being, addressed the party:

“I am Auralis. Why do you want to take me from this place? Do you want to break my heart again?”

Auralis's Revelations
Tiyana explained - very politely, of course - that the group was sent by Selene to deal with the mask spirits, but Auralis's response was quite charged with anger and pain:

“The Moon Priests stole my idol from my temple and imprisoned me here in this infinite salt plain! They attacked my people, desecrated my temple, and shattered the Order of the Golden Heart. Any who align with them are my enemies.”

As the party asked a few questions, Auralis revealed more about that little idol’s history. Long ago, Auralis was revered by the Order of the Golden Heart, which is a bit of a shame because it's all gone now, eh? The idol that housed Auralis was at the heart of the temple, until those Moon Priests caused a real ruckus, stealing the idol and locking Auralis within the golden plane of the book.
Auralis confessed that bits of Auralis’ essence had been projected outside the book, allowing Auralis to possess artifacts like the masks. These artifacts acted as a bit of a defense, especially when Selene approached, eh.
The group had a bit of a chat about what to even do. Mabel asked Auralis if returning to the original temple was possible, and Auralis expressed a desire to be free, even demonstrating some incredible power by melting a section of the golden floor with ease just to show they could, eh? Deva, being very observant of subtle deceptions, determined Auralis was being quite sincere.
Ultimately, the party decided to carry the idol housing Auralis back to the real world, if you don't mind.

Heading Back to the Cathedral
Back in the real world, a very sleepy Selene shrunk the adventurers back to their normal size, eh. Mabel - with Auralis tucked away in a pocket - and Tiyana hurried to the boat, while the others lingered to chat with Selene. Selene revealed that all those relics and artifacts within the cathedral were actually taken as spoils from some "ruthless pagan barbarians," which was a bit of a shame, eh? When the party requested their promised reward, Selene offered a Greataxe of the Deep and the recipe for Holy Hand Grenades - not too bad, I suppose! During this exchange, Deva quietly tucked a golden oil lamp into a pocket, and Ace scooped up a handful of coins - sorry about that, eh!

Family and Goodbyes
As Mabel and Tiyana returned to the boat, they ran into Mabel’s daughter, Hazel, who had found a new life as a healer in Arcadia. It was a bit of a tense moment, eh? Hazel accused Mabel of following her to Arcadia, expressing a desire for some independence and distance. Hazel made it clear she had found peace and purpose among the kind-hearted folks of Arcadia. If religion ever helped her overcome her resentment, Hazel promised to send word to Mabel’s home in Fairview, eh. With Tiyana being very persuasive, Mabel reluctantly left for the boat.

A New Journey
Aboard the ship, the party revealed their next destination to Auralis: The Forbidden Island, home to that ancient temple of the Golden Heart. The group charted a course for Camp Sonoma, an adventuring outpost near the Forbidden Island, ready for whatever challenges come their way, eh? What secrets will the Forbidden Island reveal?
