The Goldenbank Tristrike Liberty-Clash – Live Broadcast from the Heart of the Arena

July 30, 2024

Goldenbank Arena – This is Gorvin Fleetfoot, broadcasting live from the legendary Goldenbank Arena! Since El Gran Samurai retired to pursue his own personal brand of freedom, we haven't had a Tristrike game with any real grit or glory, but it seems our larger-than-life Arena Master Adrastos has found a replacement as well as three challengers ready to fight for their right to win tonight. And here he is, ready to announce the contenders!

“Citizens, patriots, and lovers of all things wild, WELCOME to the Triiiiiistriiiiike Claaaash! I know you’ve been hungry for some high-octane action, but I promise you that the wait has been worth every second, because we have two teams tonight ready to unleash total chaos!

The Challengers have ridden in from the furthest frontiers to prove their unbridained power in the Tristrike Arena:

  • The gold-clad dragonborn sorceress with scales as bright as a summer sun and pure, unadulterated magical firepower: Fiery Tiana!
  • The Desert Monk of the Open Hand; agile, disciplined, and hitting with the force of a landslide, she embodies peak individual grit: Selah the Uncatchable!
  • And finally, a wild card from the deep South! Eyes like an eagle, fangs like a bear, it is the untamed Deva the Devious!*

On the other side of the arena, we have our much-loved Goldenbank Home Team!

  • The Wizard whose burning passion scorches the very earth! Witness her unmatched magical caliber and fiery brilliance: Azoma the Hot-Handed!
  • The gargantuan, hooded powerhouse commanding the field with sheer, overwhelming presence! No challenger has ever managed more than a glancing blow against him. His opponents tremble as he towers over them like a mountain: Stanley the Colossal!
  • And finally, after the retirement of our beloved El Gran Samurai, it was a struggle to find a third member for the squad. However, on short notice, we found a true rogue! Not much is known about her; some say she’s an outlaw from the West dodging the long arm of the law while others say she’s hunting for frontier justice. She doesn't need a sidearm when her flying scissors cut down foes with deadly precision. She may not be a sharpshooter, but she’s a sharp-thrower: Kenzie the Bladeweaver!”*

And with that, Adrastos signals the start and they're off to the races! Azoma dashes forward, unleashing a burst of fire to propel herself onto a statue while Selah uses her lightning-fast agility to scale the opposing tower. Kenzie takes her position, ready to punish anyone who dares step onto the Tower, but what is this?! Deva transforms into a horse and gallops full throttle! Avoiding Kenzie's trap entirely, she extends vines from her arms to snatch an Orb, but it’s a miss! Tiyana is hot on her heels, using her Mage Hand to roll one of the Orbs off the Tower toward her own team! But here comes Stanley, charging headfirst into the fray like a runaway freight train! Deva looks like she wants to grab the Orb that Tiyana rolled right her way, but she’s forced to summon vines from the ground just to halt Stanley's advance! And… he's ensnared by the vines, stuck fast! Azoma is right behind him, burning through most of the vines with a blast of Fire Breath, but crucially, she can't break him free! However, Deva left the Orb completely unguarded and Kenzie swoops in for the first Claim! It's 1-0 for the Goldenbank Team!

The Challengers aren't taking that lying down, and Tiyana pokes out of her cover to fire blue flames at Kenzie, who is now in a real bind. Deva follows suit and launches a javelin directly into Kenzie's torso and I cannot believe my eyes! It’s a direct hit! A critical strike! Kenzie is pinned to the Tower as her consciousness fades! We are definitely going to need the medic team out there to patch her up after the match!
On the right side of the arena, Selah tries to take on Stanley, but her nunchaku and fists just bounce off his massive frame like pebbles! He gets a swing in for payback, but Seledy quickly grabs an Orb, leaps onto a nearby statue, and scores another Claim! It's a dead heat at 1-1!

The Goldenbank Team is down one player and needs a legendary play, and they need it now. Azoma scorches her way through the vines as she launches a cloud of flame toward Deva, who doesn't even flinch as she casually rolls an Orb off the Tower toward Tiyana! Tiyana lunges forward, seemingly trying to Claim the Orb… no, she actually charges right past it and kicks it deep into her own team's territory!!! She knows this is the moment for decisive action, so instead of a Claim, she launches a Twinned Magic Missile straight at Stanley! Six blue flames blast into his limbs as he finally breaks free from the vines. But what in the name of liberty?! Selah is darting back and forth from her statue onto the Tower and scores another Claim! It's 1-2 and the Challengers have taken the lead! Who could have predicted such a turnaround?

Stanley leaps off the Tower, trying to chase an Orb that was kicked away, but Deva isn't having any of it! She transforms into a horse once again and lunges off the tower right onto Stanley! It's hind legs versus forehead as he gets squashed by five hundred kilograms of pure muscle and hooves! Azoma knows it is up to her to stop the Challengers from seizing the final Orb deep in their territory, so she conjures up her signature Flaming Sphere! The crowd goes wild as she launches it toward Tiyana, expecting a burn! No, wait. What’s happening?! She's absorbing the flames from the sphere into her very skin!!! She barely gets scorched as she grabs the Orb through the fiery sphere and scores the third Claim! It's 1-3 and the game is OVER! The Challengers have seized the victory!

Of course, we're staying for the post-game coverage! The Challengers are raising their hands high on the Tower while the medic team attempts to extract the javelin from Kenzie. No, actually, it looks like they’ve decided to transport Kenzie with the javelin still embedded in her. Her teammates are giving her some pretty dismissive looks as they head out of the arena, visibly dejected. And here is Adrastos on the Tower, interviewing the victors…
