So sorry about the chaos in Port Elgin: Explosions, sneaky business, and some very rude betrayals have rocked the town, eh?

June 4, 2024

Port Elgin — Our lovely little trading hub was thrown into a bit of a mess, and we are so terribly sorry to report it, as a series of rather loud explosions left everyone feeling quite rattled, eh. The streets of Port Elgin became a bit of a scramble, with some very rude betrayals and scary confrontations unfolding in a way that’s just not ideal for anyone, eh?

A Bit of a Tiff at The Tipsy Swordfish
It all started quite peacefully enough, if you don't mind me saying, at The Tipsy Swordfish - a cozy little spot for a brew where adventurers Tiana and Cecilie met our group. Amidst the clinking of glasses and some nice chatter, a vial of that strange substance known as flux changed hands with the bartender; it was bought back for a bit extra, which felt a tad pricey, eh?

A human fellow named Marcus grew a little bit worried upon seeing the flux, leading to the talk about the University Triangular Communication System. Using this - which can send up to 100 pages every Saturday, quite a lot of reading, eh? - Marcus agreed to message his professor, the lovely Lady Levine, just to check in on that flux business, sorry for the interruption.

Some Unpleasantness at the Moon Temple
Next, our brave group found themselves at the Moon Temple, arriving just as a bit of a disagreement broke out between a lady in black named Rachel and Father George. The whole thing ended with Father George asking Rachel and her companions to please leave the Full Moon service. Even so, the party decided to stay for the evening ritual, though they were told to maybe wander around town until nightfall, if that's alright with everyone, eh.

Some Sneaky Business Down at the Docks
Down at the docks, things were getting a little bit tense, eh? A ship from Allison & Sons' Trading Co. was just sitting there, with the enigmatic Miss Fawkes acting as the envoy. Cecilie's keen ears caught Rachel talking to a blind girl - quite a private moment, sorry - and it looked like a secret plan was forming when our heroes confronted the girl: she would "take care of the people" while our heroes focused on the ship, eh. In a lovely little aside, Wilma enjoyed a nice chat with the soap vendors, Clarence and Caspar Clover.

But, oh dear, not everything was as peaceful as we hoped. Miss Fawkes' secret talks with the port authority, Augustus, about setting up a new trading outpost for Allison & Sons' took a bit of a turn for the worse, which was quite upsetting to overhear, eh. The mood got heavy, like an unexpected snowstorm, hinting that something bad might be coming.

A Real Bummer of an Explosion
Suddenly, and we are so incredibly sorry to report this, the port was rocked by a massive explosion. Someone quite rude detonated a barrel near Augustus' office, causing a blinding pinkish-blue flash and a very unpleasant smell, eh? Augustus passed away instantly - so sorry for his loss - while Lady Fawkes was knocked right across the street. The trouble only grew, as the blind girl set off another barrel, which sadly took Clarence and left Lady Fawkes quite injured, losing her right arm in the process, eh. It was quite a mess, and our heroes were left in a bit of a pickle: should they run to the ship, seek justice for Clarence, or perhaps check on the fallen Augustus and Lady Fawkes? With the guards busy helping Lady Fawkes and dealing with the attacker, our group had to make some very difficult choices, eh.

A Bit of a Mess in Town
As the smoke cleared and Captain Mad Matt hurried through the clouds, things in Port Elgin were still looking quite uncertain. Will our heroes manage to catch the ship despite the ruckus, or will they get caught up in all this unpleasantness? The Fireball Gazette promises to bring you more updates - sorry for the suspense - so please stay tuned for the next chapter, eh!
